Sh. Nitin Gupta is presently working as Director General, Competition Commission of India (CCI) since September, 2015. As DG, CCI he is entrusted with the investigations undertaken pursuant to the passing of prima facie order by the CCI and thereafter submission of investigation reports to the CCI.

He is an Officer of the Indian Revenue Service of 1986 batch. In the past 30 years, he has held several positions in the Income Tax Department in the areas of investigation including search & seizure, assessment of income, representation before authorities, appellate functions etc. at Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Rajasthan. He has also worked in Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and pursued policy making/planning for revenue augmentation and participated in several committees constituted by the CBDT. He is keenly interested in the emerging areas of International Taxation and Transfer Pricing and also handled several complex cases in the capacity as Principal Commissioner of Income Tax (Int. Taxation) and member of Dispute Resolution Panel.
