Mr. M. M. Sharma heads the Competition Law & Policy team in VA since 2009 and has over 30 years' experience of the field of law and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Economics of Competition Law from Kings College, London. He has performed legal and judicial functions in the Central Government and worked in CCI in its formative years, from 2006 to 2008, as Additional Registrar. In CCI, he was actively involved with the legislative drafting of most of the implementing regulations and the 2007 amendment in the Competition Act, 2002.

He has advised and represented both domestic and international clients on strategic competition issues in CCI and was counsel in various landmark cases decided by CCI and COMPAT. Mr Sharma argues independently before High Courts, CCI and COMPAT.

He is a prolific writer on competition law issues and his articles get published in noted journals and financial newspapers such as ECONOMIC TIMES, BUISNESS STANDARD, FINANCIAL EXPRESS and he is frequently quoted on competition issues in leading financial newspapers and also appears on TV interviews as subject expert. He also teaches the subject as a visiting faculty in various Universities and Institutions. Mr Sharma is also member in various committees of Apex Business Chambers such as FICCI, ASSOCHAM, CII and PHD CCI.

Mr. Sharma has been mentioned as a "Notable Practitioner" in the "Competition/Antitrust" category of Chambers & Partners (Asia Pacific) Ranking of Leading Lawyers for Business in India for the year 2012 and 2013. VA’s competition law and policy team has also been awarded the Law Firm of the Year Award for “Competition/Antitrust Law” for 2013 by the Indian Business Law Journal.
